The Monday 6 - April 26, 2021

The Monday 6
Hello, friend,
We’re nearly 1/3 the way through 2021 already. 😲
The United States clearly is now in a different stage of our vaccination effort. With Johnson & Johnson now unpaused and appointments available virtually everywhere, the next stage will be about optimizing for convenience.
Relatedly, I’d love to see experts & policy-makers give a clearer, more pragmatic picture of what one can do once vaccinated (like ditching outdoor masks?). Apparently, that updated guidance may be coming this week.
Nevertheless, I’m still feeling optimistic.
Finally, as a country, I believe we should do our best to help other nations. Start by sending our (no-path-for-approval) Astra-Zeneca doses to India.
Onto the 6!

1. Copy Links To Specific Text in Chrome
This. Is. So. Cool.
In Chromium browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, others) on version 90+, you can highlight a bit of text and select “Copy Link to Highlight”. An anchor link to the text you highlighted will be copied to your clipboard.
Here’s an example:
This feature may not be on for you yet. To enable, type chrome://flags in your browser and find “Copy Link To Text” and switch it to “Enabled”. After restarting the browser, the option should show up when you right-click some highlighted text.
You can expect me to use this pretty often moving forward!
2. Photo Scan

The Google PhotoScan app is the best I’ve found to capture IRL pictures and turn them into digital images. My wife uses it to take pictures of our kids’ school artwork every week.
It’s available on Android and iOS and directly syncs with Google Photos.

3. Great YouTuber for Kids & Parents
He’s not exactly a secret, but Mark Rober’s YouTube channel is one we enjoy as a whole family.
Mark is a former engineer at NASA and Apple, but his real skill is being an entertaining and informative teacher. He’s also just a really nice guy.
There’s not much content out there that’s equally entertaining to a 5-year-old and a 33-year-old, but his stuff definitely fits that bill.

4. Kids, COVID, and Vaccines
This piece is a thoughtful, reasonable, and balanced look at what parents around the country are facing regarding COVID-19 and their children. Consider giving this a read if you are struggling with good data and reasoning behind what to do. Thanks for sending the article, Kelsey!
Opinion | If Your Kids Haven't Gotten the Covid Vaccine, What's Safe? - The New York Times
Thank GOD COVID-19 has largely spared children in the 1 year+ since its discovery; I can only imagine the dark headspace I’d be in if things were different.
I thought this was the best chart/data to calibrate risk:

5. My Keyboard of Choice
I got the Logitech MX Keys keyboard shortly after moving to full-time work-from-home, and it’s the best I’ve used.
Here’s why I like it:
  1. Rechargeable via USB-C
  2. It can be paired with up to 3 devices via a USB dongle and Bluetooth (I have my work computer and phone as 2 connections)
  3. Illuminated keys
  4. Very solid build quality
  5. Mac and Windows compatible
If you’re in the market for a new keyboard, this gets my seal of approval!

6. See A Satellite
This website is purpose-built to help you know when and where to look outside to see a satellite. It even overlays your house on Google Street View, making the point of references needed super understandable.

Apparently, the Hubble telescope will be passing overhead in my area tonight!
