You Need A Budget
* (most commonly referred to as ‘YNAB’) is the most comprehensive budgeting & personal finance tool I’ve ever used. To be honest, the tool and the underlying system can be life-changing.
Admittedly, there is a learning curve, but if you want to get better control over your finances and direct the dollars you earn toward your goals, I couldn’t endorse YNAB enough.
Their homepage explains their value prop well:
What really makes You Need A Budget different is that we can teach you how to manage your money and get ahead—for good. What if your bills rolled in and instead of piling up, you just paid them? No sweat. What if you didn’t even realize it was payday because you had money in the bank and weren’t desperate for that check to arrive? Forget everything you think you know about budgeting and prepare to experience total control.
We’ve been using YNAB for years now, and it helped us through buying 2 homes, transitioning to a single income, buying cars, and more. I used to look back at our finance in the rear-view mirror, but YNAB has changed that to look toward the future.
Finally, there’s a passionate and helpful fanbase of the tool across Facebook, Reddit, and more. Their support team and help documentation make it as easy as possible to adopt. Spend a weekend getting set up and try it out. I’m happy to answer any questions directly as well.
