Coming off October 4th’s Monday 6
of tips/tricks using Gmail addresses, I thought I’d share another handy email feature, although the audience is probably smaller.
It’s called Hide My Email.
- Are on iOS 15+ AND
- Pay anything for additional iCloud storage (now called iCloud+ because the world is out of good naming ideas)
Then, you are eligible to use Hide My Email
. From Apple
Hide My Email lets you create unique, random email addresses to use with apps, websites, and more so your personal email can stay private.
Hide My Email is a service that lets you keep your personal email address private whether you’re creating a new account with an app, signing up for a newsletter online, or sending an email to someone you don’t know well.
If you’re looking to sign up for something, but you think it could be a bit sketchy, OR you just don’t want them having your email address, Hide My Email is for you.
Finding it is a little kludgy:
- Open Settings on your device
- Click your name on the very top where it says: Apple ID, iCloud, Media & Purchases.
- Click iCloud
- Click Hide My Email
- Click Create New Address
After you create, you can nuke any previously created addresses from this list and not have to worry about your email address being shared elsewhere.
